Vineeth Sankoorikal, MD

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in SanFam Med. I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about myself.

I was born in Russellville, Arkansas. Growing up I loved fixing things, taking things apart to understand how they work. I wanted to be an engineer like my dad, but he suggested I could be an engineer of the body. This idea, along with my curiosity about how the body worked propelled me down the path of becoming a physician.

I went on to St. Bonaventure University in New York for my bachelor’s then to American University of the Caribbean for my MD. What brought me to Mississippi was my excellent training in Family Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident.

After residency I knew I wanted to stay in Mississippi. I moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to Bay St. Louis for my first job out of residency. During that time, I got married to my amazing wife Jessica and we had our first child. After that we decided to move back to the Jackson area to be closer to family. When we moved back, I decided to start Sankoorikal Family Medicine to take part in the DPC model of healthcare with the goal of bringing value to my patients. Now we live in Ridgeland with our two beautiful daughters.

My approach to primary care centers around the patient-doctor relationship. Being able to talk about your physical health but also about what’s going on in your life, what you like to do, really getting to know you as a whole person is important to achieving better healthcare outcomes. I am here to guide you through your healthcare journey and I look forward to meeting you!
